The Food Distribution Research Society, Inc.

Welcome to the Food Distribution Research Society (FDRS) Web Site. FDRS is the only body of scholars and practitioners in the United States dedicated to the study, monitoring and sharing of knowledge about the dramatic changes that are taking place in the global food system. In this Web site, we provide information about the structure, leadership, history, and activities of the Society. Our objective is to make FDRS as an institution, and the expertise of individual members, better known and more accessible to various clientele groups around the world.
The Food Distribution Research Society meets today's challenges in several ways. The Journal of Food Distribution Research, which has been published since 1969, is the principal academic product and outlet for research dissemination. Annual meetings provide the opportunity for exchange of ideas among practitioners, researchers, and government agencies. Newsletters give updates on society activities. The entire membership is encouraged to provide suggestions for improvement in these activities.
The Food Distribution Research Society supports research on food industry topics through the Applebaum Scholarship Fund. The categories are awarded at the doctoral level, and at the masters level (both thesis and non-thesis), for a total of 3 awards annually.
A strategic planning committee is exploring other services and activities to maintain the Society's relevance and to provide additional value to members and nonmembers alike.
Enjoy your visit to the Food Distribution Research Society Web Site. We welcome your feedback and involvement with the Society.
